The Oscars 2014: The Winners

'The Oscars'.

      2014 Academy Awards ceremony brought us many predictable results but also surprise results to a certain extent.
      'Gravity' was the biggest winner of the evening getting 7 wins out of 10 nominations including Best Director for "Alfosno Cuaron"(First Latin American to win the award) and Best Visual Effects. '12 Years A Slave' won Best Picture(First Black American Director to win this category), after a tight race with  'Gravity'. The movie also won "Lupita Nyong'o" the Best Supporting Actress award and Best Writing - Adapted Screenplay. The biggest loser of the night has to be 'American Hustle' after going out empty handed failing to win a single award after being nominated for 10 categories. "Cate Blanchett" as expected won the only award for 'Blue Jasmine', while 'Dallas Buyers Club' was represented by "Mathew McConaughey" and "Jared Leto", winning Best Actor in a Leading and Supporting Role respectively, and won Best Make-up and Hairstyling . 'Captain Phillips'(6 nominations), 'The Wolf of Wall Street'(5 nominations) and 'Nebraska'(6 nominations) also went out empty handed. Surprise wins for 'The Great Gatsby' for Production Design and Costume Design was nice to see
