Official 'Endless Love(2014)' Poster.
A typical romantic drama movie, 'Endless Love' does what is supposed to do but does little to push the boundaries of this genre.

"Alex Pettyfer".
"Gabriella Wilde".
'Jade Butterfield'(Gabriella Wilde) is shy but beautiful young woman, who has just graduated from high school. Throughout her high school years she failed to gain friendship and popularity due to her focus on studying to get into Brown University, especially after the death of her brother 'Chris'(Patrick Johnson) who passed away during her sophomore year. 'David Elliot'(Alex Pettyfer) has been watching her from distance and never truly had the gut to make a move. One day when 'Jade', along with her father 'Hugh Butterfield'(Bruce Greenwood), her mother 'Anne Butterfield'(Joely Richardson) and her brother 'Keith Butterfield'(Rhys Wakefield), stop at an upscale restaurant for lunch after graduation, she accidentally bumps into 'David' and a spark between them quickly emerges. A beautiful love story will be formed and believe that they have found true love. But the rejection of this relationship from her father and the past of 'David' will hurt this innocent love and may ruin it. Will their true love succeed and triumph? Other characters include 'David''s father 'Harry Elliot'(Robert Patrick), 'David''s best friend 'Mase'(Dayo Okeniyi), 'David''s former lover 'Jenny'(Emma Rigby) and 'Keith''s love interest 'Sabine'(Anna Enger).

For those who aren't aware, this movie the second adaptation of "Scott Spencer"'s same name book. The first adaptation was the infamous 1981 same name movie adaptation and starred "Brooke Shields", which at the time got slammed by critics for disappointing many by its portrayal on the big screen. 33 years later, 'Endless Love' may not be the biggest improvement reboot movie, but it sure does the job to perform the job that such genres - a melodrama teenage movie portraying modern adolescence themes. Many will surely question the reason why this movie was remade. These days the Hollywood trend has shifted very much towards reboot/remake strategies and many of these movies are for the most part unnecessary. 'Endless Love(2014)' may be not necessary but is sure isn't harmful or rebooted in a disrespectful or worse manner.

"Shane Feste" is basically a newbie when it comes to Hollywood movies, having only 2009 movie 'The Greatest' and 2010 drama movie 'Country Song'(which was basically a disappointment). Her smooth directing style complemented the romantic and love themes of the story and movie. Besides her directing chops, "Shane" alongside "Joshua Safran"(TV series 'Gossip Girl' and 'Smash') were responsible for the screenplay, which strays from the book material but for the most part was solid keeping all events together, even if there were many over recurring and cliché themes and scenes. No real innovation or solid  twists were successfully added to the movie's screenplay, thus not being able to differentiate itself from similar movies. Composer "Christophe Beck"('Frozen' and 'The Hangover Part III') provided a romantic score that further emphasized on the romantic theme of this movie.

The time frame of the movie was acceptable, still many will definitely feel that the movie could have been trimmed out a bit. The trajectory that the movie takes, as mentioned before does include many clichés and acts that all of us have seen in these kind of movies before, but to be honest viewers that entered to watch this movie didn't expect something very much different. What makes this movie different than the others is maybe that it takes its time showing us the relationship that the main couple forms, but it uses this time to build upon the climax problem of the movie. Yet this climax felt a bit not-so-important since the audiences in my opinion were expecting a revelation much bigger, plus many subplots were tied in rather not-tight manner. The highlight scenes were the first dinner scene, activities at the lake house, 'David' and 'Anne' meeting at the bookstore, and 'David' meeting 'Jade' at the airport.

"Alex Pettyfer".
"Bruce Greenwood", "Gabriella
Wilde", "Alex Pettyfer" and
"Joely Richardson".
"Alex Pettyfer" utilizes his acting skills that he gathered from making many mildly successful movies such as 'I Am Number 4' and 'Magic Mike' to his advantage delivering a solid performance and basically being the star of the movie. "Gabriella Wilde" is new to Hollywood known only for 2011's movie 'The Three Musketeers' and 2011 remake 'Carrie'. She was believable as young 'Jade' but failed to captivate. The romantic and sexual chemistry between these lead actors is visible from the poster to their interactions onscreen, which teenage girls will love and surely envy. "Bruce Greenwood" performs as the protective father of 'Jade', "Joely Richardson" delivers as the mother inspired by this love, as for their characters story it could have been more explored. The supporting actors, especially “Wakefield”, “Patrick” and “Okeniyi” do an acceptable job.

'Endless Love(2014' improves from its original, yet fails to reinvent itself and differentiate itself from its similar movie, but surely a nice movie to watch and enjoy.
