Official 'Brave' Poster.
When Disney's Pixar chose the story of 'Brave' as their basis for this animation. After "WALL-E" set the bar for animation movies, the movie was able to prove to be a good animation movie.
When 'Princess Merida'(Kelly Macdonald), is pressured by her mother 'Queen Elinor'(Emma Thompson) to marry and follow her footsteps. 'Merida' constantly defies her wishes and asks her father 'King Fergus'(Billy Connolly) but without any result. So one night , after 'Merida' gets angry at her mother, she runs away with 'Angus'(Merida's horse) into the woods. There she meets a witch(Julie Walters) and asks her to 'change her mother'. And from here on everything turns upside down and its up to 'Merida' to save her mother's fate, while taking care of her father, triplet brothers, and the Lords: 'Dingwall'(Robbie Coltrane), 'McGauffin'(Kevin McKidd), and 'Macintosh'(Craig Ferguson), who came to present their sons to 'Merida' for marriage.
The movie really gives you the feeling that its theme and type is similar to the "Brothers Grimm" stories, with a little darker tone and a more edge. The plot in the movie is really consistent and can be understood clearly. The visual effects of the movie are very well done and made this movie so much better to watch. The landscape shots in the movie were magnificent and really nice to watch. At the beginning of the movie you might get lost  in regards to the relation of the bear to the story , who attacked 'King Fergus' and amputated his leg. But as the movie unfolds you will understand clearly the link. Loved "Kelly Macdonald"'s voice as 'Merida' , it was perfect , especially that since 'Merida' needed that Scottish accent that "Kelly" provided her."Emma Thompson" was also perfect for 'Queen Elinor' too, though I was a little suspicious of her taking this role. The other actors were good and there is no character where I thought his voice was not in its place.
"Toy Story" trilogy, "WALL-E", "The Incredibles", "Cars", "Finding Nemo", and "Up" are movies that gave the animation genre a great push over the last few years, and improved Pixar's overall image. The only problem here in "Brave" is that many described it as not 'compelling' or 'exciting' as the movies I mentioned. I agree , somehow. Yes , it didn't give me the same feeling or emotional connection I had when watching "Finding Nemo" or "WALL-E", for example.
Nonetheless, I advice every movie lover , who likes to see new original movies, to go and see this one. I call this movie a 'visual masterpiece' and I urge everyone to see it, you will not be disappointed.
