Official "Battleship"Poster.

From the producers of the 'Transformers' trilogy comes 'Battleship', a movie that failed to have a good story and fell short in bringing an emotional attachment.

"Taylor Kitsch" and
 "Brooklyn Decker".
After sending a message to space through the Hawaiian telecommunication center, the aliens respond. At the time during which an American-Chinese Navy training is occuring, five alien ships hit earth and create a barrier to try to establish a way to communicate with home to send more troops. In this barrier are 3 US and Chinese battleships who are the only way to save this planet. 'Lieutenant Alex Hooper'(Taylor Kitsch), weapons specialist 'Cora Raikes'(Rihanna), 'Captain Nagada'(Tadanobu Assano), seaman 'Jimmy Ord'(Jesse Plemons), 'Alex''s brother 'Commander Stone Hopper'(Alexander Skarsgård), 'Alex''s girlfriend 'Samantha Shane'(Brooklyn Decker), scientist 'Cal Zapata'(Hamish Linklater), and double amputee 'Lieutenant Colonel Mick Canales'(Gregory D. Gadson) are all the only persons trapped in the barrier who are able to save this planet. We also have 'Admiral Terrance Shane'(Liam Neeson).
"Alexander Skarsgård".
After the success of movies such as 'Transformers' and 'G.I. Joe', it was normal that even more Hasbro games will be adapted to the big screen. From the minute the production on this movie was announced, little hope was given to this movie. Being based on a board game by Hasbro didn't help either. The problem with this one is that the movie was completely different from the board game. First of all there are no aliens in the game, and the way the game is placed was used not so good. And to be honest this game isn't the best game to be adapted, since it offered little material to try and capitalize on it. But there is something that makes you enjoy this movie.
"Taylor Kitsch" and "Liam Neeson".
"Rihanna".
The writers tried to jam many stuff in the script trying to make a good story, but ultimately they failed. The stories of the characters were too weak and there were many holes in the story. The director "Peter Berg" had a really difficult job. He directed very good movies like 'The Kingdom' and 'Hancock', and directed 2 episodes of 'Friday Night Lights', which starred "Taylor Kitsch". The focus in the directing process was very much on making the movie look good especially in the action and fighting scenes. But his directing style made the few dramatic and emotional scenes seem even worse. The music was a good thing in the movie. "Steve Jablonsky”, who scored the 'Transformers' trilogy, did a magnificent job.

"Gregory D. Gadson"
and "Brooklyn Decker".
The first scene was too long; they could have done in a shorter way or incorporated it throughout the movie. The scenes where we get to know 'Alex Hooper' better were good, but somehow they focused too much on him and failed to introduce us well to the other characters. There were many holes in the movie, like why the alien shows 'Alex' what they are here for and why didn't the US government try further more to do something. These are a few things. Moving to a more positive note, my favorite scenes were that of the landing of 'Aliens', the sinking of the USS John Paul Jones, and the first attack of the US-Chinese fleet and the alien ships.
"Hamish Linklater".
"Taylor Ktisch"
and "Tadanobo Asano".
"Taylor Kitsch" had a really disappointing year, starring in two mediocre box office movies. But I think in both those movies he did a really good job. I liked his portrayal of 'Alex Hooper’; however, the 'Alex''s arc story was lost in the middle of the movie. The movie failed to harmoniously show us the evolution of the character and seemed a little bit forced. "Rihanna" did a good job most of the time, and it was her acting debt so we should give her some slack. "Alexander Skarsgård"'s character was given that much; I expected more. "Brooklyn Decker" did a good job most of the time and her love chemistry with "Taylor" was obvious, as well as her chemistry with "Gregory D. Gadson", who played a character that could have been explored more. "Liam Neeson"'s character played a very minimal role, unlike what the trailer suggested. "Tadanobo Asano" was one of the good characters and had great bromance chemistry with "Taylor". And finally both "Hamish Linklater" and "Jesse Plemons" added some good humor, but some of this humor felt forced and very cliché.
In conclusion, 'Battleship' may not be a great movie or the next 'Transformers', but you can't deny that it is an enjoyable movie which has its many flaws.
