Official "Zero Dark Thirty" Poster.
From the Academy Award Winner - Best Movie, Director, and Original Screenplay-"The Hurt Locker", comes to you "Zero Dark Thirty", a film that has had its fair share of 'political' criticism. Nevertheless, it is a great movie that deserves its nomination for the category of "Best Picture" at the 85th Academy Awards.
"Jessica Chastain".
"Zero Dark Thirty" is a movie that follows 'Maya'(Jessica Chastain), a CIA agent who focuses all her efforts on finding "Al Qaeda" leader following the 9/11 attacks. After being re-assigned to work at the U.S embassy in Pakistan, she partners and works with various CIA agents , including 'Dan'(Jason Clark), 'Jessica'(Jennifer Ahle), 'George'(Mark Strong), 'Larry'(Edgard Ramirez), and 'Steve'(Mark Duplass) to find any evidence or person that could lead them to "Osama Bin Laden" or any of his entourage. The cast includes also "Joel Edgerton" as 'Patrick' Red Squadron Team Leader, "Chris Pratt" and "Taylor Kinney" as U.S Navy Seals, "Kyle Chandler" as 'Joseph Bradley' CIA Islamabad CIA chief, and "James Gandolfini" as CIA Director 'Leon Panetta'.
"Kyle Chandler" and "Jason Clark".
"Zero Dark Thirty" has proved that Hollywood can make movies related to current issues, without being boring or annoying to watch. Regardless of whose point of view the movie shows and it's political views, this movie is fun to watch, because you sense the realism in it. Making a movie with an ending that everybody already knows is hard and sometimes impossible, but "Kathryn Bigelow" did a tremendous job. From the beginning till the end, "Bigelow" managed to make a movie that keeps you drawn to it events. The way she directed this movie was really good, it reminded me sometimes of the stupendous job she did with the amazing "The Hurt Locker". I was impressed with the raid scene and the way she made this long scene exciting to watch.
"Chris Pratt" and "Joel Edgerton".
"Jessica Chastain".
At first , this movie was supposed to be about the hideaway of "Oussama Bin Laden", but when production was about to be commenced, news went out that Laden was killed. So "Mark Boal" , the writer, had to restart from scratch, but still utilizing the research he has done for the previously planned movie. Pleased that the film directly puts you in the center of what is going on. And as the 3 hour film rolls on, you get to know more and more about what is happening. The only negative point I can give is that at times, you get overwhelmed with the names they are searching for, and sometimes confused. Other than that the movie was a joy to watch.
"Mark Strong".
"Joel Edgerton".
"Jessica Chastain" no doubt deserves winning the Golden Globes for Best Actress. She was great in developing the character 'Maya'. She portrayed the character, based on a true CIA agent, in a really good way. She showed the dedication, thrive, anger, and emotions throughout the movie. And the ending was like perfect, simple yet expressive. "Jason Clarke", "Jennifer Ahle", "Mark Strong", "Edgard Ramirez", "Mark Duplass" , all did a good job in playing different agents, showing us that agents are humans in the end and each one is different. Enjoyed seeing "Joel Edgerton", "Chris Pratt", and "Taylor Kinney" as US navy seals, and it was nice to see "Kyle Chandler" and "James Gandolfini" as CIA chief and director, respectively.
People may argue whether or not is should have been made and question its purpose, But in the end they cannot deny that it was one of the best political movies ever.
