Official 'Argo' Poster.
One of the most anticipated Oscar contenders of 2012, comes 'Argo' a movie based on true events. It is literally one of the best political drama thriller movies that I have ever watched.
"Ben Affleck".
"Bryan Cranston".
Based on true events, ‘Argo’ talks about ‘Tony Mendez’ (Ben Affleck), a CIA operative, who devises a plan, with his superior 'Jack O'Donnell'(Bryan Cranston), to save 6 US hostages 'Bob Anders'(Tate Donovan), 'Cora Lijek'(Clea DuVall), 'Mark Lijek'(Christopher Denham), 'Joe Stafford'(Scoot McNairy), 'Kathy Stafford'(Kerry Bishé), and 'Lee Schatz'(Rory Cochrane), who fled the US embassy after the November 4, 1979 attacks of Iranian militants and hidden in the home of Canadian Ambassador 'Ken Taylor'(Victor Garber). The plan was to make them flee the country by making them seem like they are Canadian filmmakers scouting exotic Middle Eastern location for their new (non-existing) movie ‘Argo’. And here starts a great movie that shows us to some extent what really happened and how everything unfolded. We also have 'Lester Siegel'(Alan Arkin) and 'John Chambers'(John Goodman).
"Kerry Bishé", "Christopher Denham",
"Scoot McNairy", "Tate Donovan",
"Clea Du Vall" and "Rory Cochrane".
"John Goodman", "Alan Arkin",
and "Ben Affelck".
2012 has showed us some of the best political movies ever, and ‘Argo’ is definitely one of them. Regardless of its political point of view, It is a movie that really draws you in, whether you like politics or not. It shows a dangerous mission that occurred to save lives of human beings, and I think that many people like to see this sort of stuff. Ben Affleck outperformed himself. After his great work in ‘The Town, I never thought in a million years that he would be able to replicate and outshine his work. But ‘Argo is just that good. The directing is really good, and though many criticized him that many facts were either missing or made up, I think what he did made the movie more interesting and fun.
"Bryan Cranston" and "Ben Affleck".
"Ben Affleck".
The beginning of the movie was really smart, letting in the people to what really happen and the smoothly transitioning the ‘facts’ said into the movie. The usage of angles in filming was good, and the flow of the movie’s events was good. This movie had two great moments. First moment was at the second checkpoint, when they had to give them the yellow sheets that did not have a white one, and the second was at the last checkpoint. That 'Joe Stafford'(Scoot McNairy), the guy who was against all this operation, came through and rescued them from this obstacle and the way he did it was just great.
"John Goodman" and "Alan Arkin".
"Ben Affleck".
“Ben Affleck” did a solid job in acting, I don’t know if it was his best acting role, but it was surely one of the best. He really was able to show us ‘Tony Mendez’’s personality and allowed us to discover it without even tackling it directly, which I admired. I loved “Bryan Cranston”, who played ‘Tony Mendez’’s supervisor ‘Jack O’Donnell’. He did a really good performance. I was happy to see “Alan Arkin” back in a big movie playing ‘Lester Siegel’, the famous film producer. “John Goodman”, who played ‘John Chambers’ the famous Hollywood make-up artist, was funny and really good. The 6 actors who played the hostages did a good performance, although my favorite was "Scoot McNairy", who played 'Joe Stafford' and who was against this mission in the first place.
‘Argo’ is a movie that I definitely recommend to watch. And winning Best Picture at the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Award, and BAFTA awards is a confirmation that this movie is a really good movie.
