Official 'The Impossible' Poster.
Well, after regrettably watching this realistic disaster movie somehow late, I think I should rethink my 'Best Movies of 2012' list! This is a movie that amazed me and may be one of the best movies I have ever seen.
Before starting I would like to pay respect to all the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.
"Samuel Joslin", "Oaklee Pendergast"
, "Tom Holland", "Ewan McGregor",
and "Naomi Watts".
"Naomi Watts" and "Tom Holland".
This movie talks about 'Maria Bennett'(Naomi Watts) and her husband 'Henry Bennett'(Ewan McGregor) who decided to go to Khao Lak, Thailand to spend their holiday along with their sons 'Lucas Bennett'(Tom Holland), 'Thomas Bennett'(Samuel Joslin), and 'Simon Bennett'(Oaklee Pendergast). During their stay, the disastrous 2004 tsunami struck, which divided them apart. And here starts the events that showed us what people went through and what this family in particular went through this tragedy and emotional roller coaster that will affect everyone.

"Ewan McGregor", "Samuel Joslin",
and "Oaklee Pendergast".
"Naomi Watts".
'The Impossible' is an epic recreation of the disastrous 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The movie is just very emotional, that really allows you to engage with the characters. And I think that is something that was allowed due to the fact that the director 'J.A. Bayona' did a great job. He did a phenomenal job bringing the realism into this movie, which was highlighted through his panoramic shots of the disastrous effects left and the close shots as well. Moreover, I really liked the boldness of the director and his ability to show the reality of what happened , such as the injuries, pain, and the disastrous results that the tsunami left behind. And many tsunami survivors commended all that worked on this movie on the fact that the movie showed truly what happened and how people gathered together during tragedy.
"Naomi Watts" and "Tom Holland".
"Ewan McGregor".
The beginning of the movie was a great way to start the movie. Introducing us to the characters was done brilliantly and in a way that did not make the audience bored. And then when the wave came through, from the shake to the actual wave, I thought it was the best shot of the movie. The way it makes the viewer feel that he is there like you are experiencing it was just great. Then the scene where 'Maria'(Naomi Watts) and 'Lucas'(Tom Holland) were trying to rejoin each other was really sensational. I really liked in this movie, the details within the scenes and how the effects looked like the real thing. The scene where 'Henry is reunited with his 3 sons was just really emotional and one of the highlights of this film. And the ending , though it was simple, the meaning and emotions it released was just great.
"Tom Holland".
"Naomi Watts".
The stars of the movie were definitely "Naomi Watts", "Tom Holloway" and "Ewan Mcgregor" and with this order I will talk about them. "Naomi Watts" was epic. Her performance as 'Maria' was just great to watch. Not for a second did I think that her performance was bad. The emotions she was able to convey to us was beyond belief. It's a shame that she faced competition in the category of 'Best Actress' in various awards, or else I would have bet that she would have won this award. The surprise of the movie and the star was "Tom Halloway". For those who don't know, 'The Impossible' is his acting debut, and what a debut it was. His acting was flawless and really surprising. It is astonishing that this 16 year old boy was able to do such an amazing job, that at some point he outperformed his fellow cast mates. I thought that "Ewan McGregor" did one of his best performances in this movie. And his most amazing moment was when he made this phone call. It was just filled with emotions and really just great. "Samuel Joslin" and "Oaklee Pendergast", whom both played the younger boys were just adorable , and it was heartbreaking to see them sad.
In the end, this cast was one of the best cast of recent time, due to the fact that their performances were awesome. This movie is one of the best disaster movie of recent time, if not ever, and definitely one that need to be seen.
