Official "Hotel Transylvania" Poster.
"Hotel Transylvania" is a movie, that will make you ask yourself :"Is it worth the watch ?". And after watching it you would say: "Yes it is worth watching it!". Well that's at least what happened to me!
This animated movie talks about 'Dracula'(Adam Sandler), who is trying everything to prevent his daughter 'Mavis'(Selena Gomez) to go to the outside world, where humans will kill her, since that is what all monsters has been taught. On 'Mavis''s 118th birthday, 'Dracula' invites all the monsters, including 'Frankenstein'(Kevin James) and his wife 'Eunice'(Fran Drescher), 'Murray'(Cee Lo Green) the mummy, 'Wayne' the werewolf(Steve Buscemi) and his wife 'Wanda' (Molly Shanon), 'Griffin'(David Spade) the invisible man, and 'Murray'(Cee Lo Green) the mummy and many others. But unexpectedly, while tricking 'Mavis' not to go to the outside world, 'Dracula' causes a small fire, which is spotted by a human called 'Jonathan'(Andy Samberg), who heads toward the hotel. And when 'Dracula' notices him, its his job to make him blend in so that no one will  notice that he is a human, especially his daughter and 'Quasimodo'(John Lovitz) the chef.
This movie may be the most funny animation movie of 2012. Sony really did a good decision with this movie, although many considered it as a huge gamble to tackle such known characters in an animation movie. But 'Sony Animations' proved them wrong. The movie is consistently entertaining and funny. The director ,'Genndy Tratakovsky' ,did a good job with focusing on the main characters, but at the same time incorporating the supporting characters in different ways, so that it does not affect the flow of the film negatively. The visual effects are not the most amazing effects ; nevertheless, it is an enjoyable movie, visually speaking. The beginning of the movie was good, introducing us to the story and the direction the movie is taking. The story was a bit weak and there were a few cliches. But the comedic moments and the characters will make you ignore this problem momentarily.
Moving on to the characters, we start with "Adam Sandler", who voiced 'Dracula'. Well many people, to say the least, were shocked to know that this voice was "Adam Sandler"'s voice. He did a good job with the accent. It fitted perfectly the character in this movie. Well the good job he did is proven, since "Hotel Transylvania" is the most successful movie "Adam Sandler" has ever starred in. "Andy Samberg" was extremely funny as 'Jonathan' and was perfect. I was relieved to know that "Selena Gomez" took the place of "Miley Cyrus" in voicing 'Mavis', she did a superb job. And the chemistry between "Gomez" and "Samberg"'s
characters was lovely and noticeable. The other actors: "Kevin James", "Fran Drescher", "Steve Buscemi", "Molly Shannon", "David Spade", "Cee Lo Green", "John Lovitz", and "Rob Riggle", who voiced 'Frankenstein', 'Eunice', 'Wayne' and 'Wanda' the werewolves , 'Griffin' the Invisible Man, 'Murray' the mummy, 'Quasimodo' the chef, and the 'Skeleton' respectively, did a good job. Though there characters had less screen time ; however , they supported the film's plot and had good material.
Looking at previous 'Sony Picture Animation' films, such as "The Smurfs", "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs", and "Open Season", "Hotel Transylvania" will definitely be one of the best animation films in Sony. They were able to bring familiar characters and give them a new modern twist. And It was a success. The proof is it's successful box office run, and plans for a sequel.
