Official "Anna Karenina" Poster.
A magnificent movie that is so worth watching it. The fact that "Keira Knightley" is in it should make you wanna go and watch it. Presenting the book's true essence and incorporating the theatricality aspect in the movie was perfect.

When 'Anna Karenina'(Keira Knightley), wife of Russian statesman 'Alexi Karenine'(Jude Law) goes to help 'Dolly'(Kelly Macdonald), after her husband and 'Anna''s brother 'Stephan Oblonsky'(Mathew Macfayden) cheated on her. On the train heading towards Moscow, she meets her old friend 'Countess Vronskaya'(Olivia Williams). There she also meets her son Count 'Alexi Vronsky'(Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who will become her one and only love, who was supposed to get engaged to 'Kitty'(Alicia Vikander), who has a secret lover 'Kostantine Levine'(Domhnall Gleeson). There is also Princess 'Betsy Tverskaya'(Ruth Wilson), a friend of 'Anna' and 'Alexis Karenin'. And this is a set up to an epic love story ,that defies the rules at that time, and where all kinds of emotions, love, hate, jealousy, friendship, and sadness will take place.

This British drama film is one of the best films of 2012, and it is one of the films that I regretted not watching in the theater. First of all, what fascinated me is the inclusion of theater aspects within the movie. I really enjoyed the theatricality aspect within the movie. I think "Joe Wright", who has directed films , such as 'Atonement' and 'Pride & Prejudice", did in my opinion a great job with this film. However , I think that he preferred to show us a great movie with perfect images, rather than to go in depth with the script. And I think that they could have explored even more the story. In spite of all these things, the movie was still able to show us a great story. The fact that "Joe" wanted us and was able to show us how the lives of Russians aristocrats ,at the time, was like living in a theater play, was really good and I commend him for that very much.
"Alicia Vikander" and
"Kelly Macdonald".
"Domhnall Gleeson".
I liked how the movie started; they got us directly into the story and from there and on, as the movie progressed the story started to develop. The direction that the producers wanted the audience to go to was for me clear and can be understood easily. Liked how constantly they were able to show us the development of all characters. And I was happy that they stuck to the main story and it's meanings , and at the same time allowing themselves to make this movie its own. As mentioned before, the flow from one scene to another within the same set was for me one of the highlights of this movie. The decor, props, costumes, and accessories were as majestic as this movie.

Moving on to the actors, "Keira Knightley" was as usual incredible. I always enjoy seeing "Keira" playing lead roles. She was able to show the real image of her character and the struggles that she faces during her journey. She did a great job considering the emphasis of the picture rather than the character development, that frequently happened throughout the film. And I think she's the only actress who could have played this role. "Jude Law" was really good, and it was a good change for him. Seeing him in a serious role like this, which is rare to see. He portrayed the character really good, though in the book he should have been a bit more strict and more 'evil'. "Aaron Taylor-Johnson" was, for me, really good, and he portrayed the character as I imagined him while reading the book . It should be mentioned that the chemistry between this trio was really electrifying.

"Mathew Macfayden" was perfect for the role of 'Oblonsky' , but I would have liked to see more scenes between his character and "Kelly Macdonald"'s character, who did a great job as 'Dolly' considering her screen time was limited. "Domhnall Gleeson", who plays 'Konstantine', the only character for me who represented somehow the common people at that time, was astonishing. And whose chemistry with "Alicia Vikander", who was marvelous as 'Kitty', was superb. Though I think they should have gotten more screen time. Other actors,"Ruth Wilson", and  "Olivia Williams", "David Wilmot", "Emily Watson",and "Bill Skarsgård", though there characters were supporting ones, they were essential and did their job in keeping the film's plot coherent, entertaining, and flowing at the same time.
Overall, 'Anna Karenina' was able to make itself the best movie adapted from the same name book. I think the praise from the critics and the fans are a testimony. Though the films has it flaws; nevertheless , it is an enjoyable movie, and I encourage everyone to go and watch this movie, since it is one of the best movie of its genre. And I especially encourage the people who have already read this book to go and watch it. They will not be disappointed.
