Official "Rise of the Guardians" Poster.
'Rise of the Guardians' is a good animated movie, which with a better marketing strategy could have been more successful and allowed people to notice that this was one of the good animated movies.
"Jack Frost".
"Santa Clause/North".
The movie talks about the Guardians 'North'(Alec Baldwin) aka 'Santa Clause', 'Tooth Fairy'(Isla Fisher), 'E. Aster Bunnymund'(Hugh Jackman) aka 'The Easter Bunny', and 'The Sandman' , who enlist 'Jack Frost'(Chris Pine), the spirit of winter who is trying to discover his true self, to help them stop 'Pitch'(Jude Law) aka 'The Boogeyman' from destroying the world and engulfing it with fear. A journey of hope, self-exploration, fear, and happiness will be witnessed.
'Rise of the Guardians', in my opinion, is one of the most underrated movies of 2012. And I think DreamWorks has only them to blame. They never really used their star power to market this movie and to show it to the world. So it could have been so much more of a success, talking at the box office. The plot is based on the book series 'The Guardians of Childhood', but many changes were made. First of all the story takes place 200 years after the events of the book series, and second it shows how the guardians are now. While the book series talks about the origins of the characters. So I think that was a nice thing. Furthermore, it is nice that the tackling of such loved characters was done in that way, which for me was good, fair, and interesting. And the themes, we all know, were incorporated in a clever way.
"Pitch/Boogeyman".
"Easter Buny/Bunnymund".
The Director "Peter Ramsey" did a good job for his directorial debut; though as all debut films have few mistakes  that could have been mended."Peter Ramsey" is the first African American person to direct a big budget animation movie, which I think is somehow shocking that it has never happened before. The animation in this film was really good. I like this kind of animation, and it is worth mentioning that they used something called 'OpenVB' as a tool to improve the showing of amorphous things , such as the smoke. And talking about this subject, I never saw this movie in 3D, but looking at the effects I think that it was a good 3D movie, and it used this technology in an effective way. The music was really fairytale-ish, which I liked. French Composer "Alexandre Desplat", whose recent work includes 'Argo' and 'Zero Dark Thirty’, did a good job.
The opening scene was a little bit confusing, but at the end you will be able to know its meaning. The movie as a whole was really connected and cohesive one. I think all the information and scenes necessary were shown. The time frame is perfect, any more and it could have been boring. Although I do think that the character's individual development scenes could have been more cohesively done. All of 'The Sandman''s scenes were magical, and I liked how the movie had great 'fighting' scene, which were enjoyable. Though the ending was a little bit of a cliché; nevertheless, these are fictional characters that are known. And the way they conquered the 'evil' was good, and for me it brought the message it wanted to bring forward to the audience.
"Tooth Fairy".
"Sandman".
Moving on to the cast, to start I think all the voices fitted perfectly with each character. I never expected that "Alec Baldwin" was voicing 'North/Santa Clause'. His accent was really good and impressive, and fitted the character really well. "Chris Pine", for me, was able with his voice to bring depth to the character and again his voice was perfect for 'Jack Frost'. I liked that "Hugh Jackman" voiced 'The Eastern Bunny' with his Australian accent, and "Isla Fisher" was also good as 'The Tooth Fairy'. Loved that 'The Boogeyman' had an English accent, and "Jude Law" he too was able to bring something to his character that made it special. Though I would have loved if they showed us more of 'The Boogeyman''s past. I think it was a clever idea to make 'The Sandman' speechless and that he communicated through body gestures and the sand, since it would have been crowded with all these voices.
'Rise of the Guardians' is going to be one of the best and popular Christmas movies in the future, it’s just a shame that it didn't take the credit that it deserved. I really hope a sequel will be made.
