'Identity Thief' is a funny and entertaining movie, good to watch with friends and family; however, it is definitely not the best comedy movie I have ever seen.

"Melissa McCarthy".
The movie talks about 'Sandy Bigelow
Patterson'(Jason Bateman), whose identity has been stolen by 'Dawn'(Melissa
McCarthy) (actually she goes under many different names within the movie, but
her real name is 'Dawn'). After he knows about the theft, that compromises his
job and his family's life, he decides to go after the thief so he can get his
job back. And from the point he meets her, they will go through a funny but
tough journey. Especially since 'Dawn' is being followed by 'Marisol'(Genesis
Rodriguez) and 'Julien'(T.I.), who want to kill her. Other characters includes
'Trish Patterson'(Amanda Peet) 'Sandy''s wife, Detective 'Riley'(Morris
Chestnut), 'Daniel Casey'(John Cho) 'Sandy''s new boss and friend,
'Skiptracer'(Robert Patrick), and 'Harold Cornish'(John Favreau) 'Sandy''s old
boss.

This
American crime comedy movie is a nice film to watch if you need to change mood
or cheer up, but don't expect to be amazed by it. The only reason you might
enjoy this film is simply because the lead actors, "Melissa McCarthy"
and "Jason Bateman", do a great job in keeping this movie together.
Director "Seth Gordon", whose previous works includes the mediocre
movie 'Four Christmases', does a decent job. He keeps the movie flowing at a
good pace, though in my opinion I could have removed some scenes that for me
weren't that necessary and didn't add to the story. The story is a good one,
and the events that occur are somehow new. But there were holes within the plot,
and their attempt to tie loose ends weren't 100% successful. The comedy fell
flat at some points, but you can't help but like the relationship between the
two characters, even though some of the comedic lines weren't so comedic.

"Jason Bateman".
The
opening scene was a good way to start this movie, it laid down all what the
audience needed to know about the two main characters. After that, the scenes
where 'Sandy' discovers that his identity has been stolen were a little bit
long. But as soon as the characters of "McCarthy" and
"Bateman" meet, you will start to see the movie that you were
promised when you watched the trailer. Some of the events that occur are
original and new; however, there were some cliché moments, but what comedy
movie does not have these clichés. The ending was a tiny bit disappointing and
obvious; nevertheless, enjoyable and could pave the way for a sequel.

"Melissa McCarthy" was the star of the movie, obviously. Universal
Studios did a good job promoting this movie and putting her in almost every
second of the trailer. She is hilariously funny, and some of the original lines
that she said were funny. I like "Jason Bateman”, even though I have still
never seen a breakthrough performance from him. In this movie he did a
good job. The chemistry between the two actors was incredible, and as mentioned
before I think this was a major factor to why this movie was somewhat good. It
was nice seeing "Amanda Peet", and the characters of "Genesis
Rodriguez", "T.I", and "Robert Patrick" were not used
properly at all. And as for the rest of the cast they were good.
In
conclusion, 'Identity Thief' is not a great movie but it is definitely not the
worst. So if you want to change from the drama, action and superhero movies you
can watch this one.
