The Best X-Men movie to be made, 'Days of
Future Past' presents a bright future for the franchise by righting the wrongs
that previous movies made.
"Nicholas Hoult", "James McAvoy" and "Hugh Jackman". |
"Michael Fassbender" and "Jennifer Lawrence". |
In 2023, both mutants and humans have been annihilated
by killing machines known as The Sentinels. In this destroyed world, 'Professor
X'(Patrick Stewart) and his old friend 'Magneto'(Ian McKellen) must join forces
and gather the remaining living mutants to stop this war by altering the past
so that this dystopian future cease to exist. The plan requires 'Kitty
Pryde'(Ellen Page) to send 'Wolverine/Logan'(Hugh Jackman)'s consciousness
back into his 1970 body in order to stop the massacre that is happening, but
things in the past are difficult. After the events of 'X-Men: First Class',
young 'Charles Xavier'(James McAvoy), 'Eric Lansherr/Magneto'(Michael
Fassbender) and 'Raven Darkholme/Mystique'(Jennifer Lawrence) are damaged and separated
from each other. It’s up to 'Logan' to find them, join them together and try to
change history, while in the future The Sentinels are approaching to the
hideout of the mutants and ready to kill them. Other major characters are 'Hank
McCoy/Beast'(Nicholas Hoult), the inventor of the Sentinel program 'Bolivar
Trask'(Peter Dinklage), 'Storm/Ororo Munroe'(Halle Berry), 'Bobby
Drake/Iceman'(Shawn Ashmore), energy absorber 'Bishop'(Omar Sy), 'Peter
Rasputin/Colossus'(Daniel Cudmore), 'Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver'(Evan Peters), teleporter
and portal creator 'Clarice Ferguson/Blink'(Fan Bingbing), solar powered mutant
'Roberto da Costa/Sunspot'(Adan Canto), super strength mutant 'James
Proudstar/Wrapath'(Booboo Stewart), military man 'William Stryker'(Josh
Helman), 'Alex Summers/Havok'(Lucas Till), and USA President 'Richard
Nixon'(Mark Camacho).

'X-Men' movies, since its release
back in 2000 created the foundation of superhero movies nowadays. But along the
way, the 'X-Men' franchise built a reputation of providing inconsistent movies, like
the horrible tackling of 'X-Men: The Last Stand' and 'X-Men Origins: The Wolverine'. What is
brilliant is that this movie was pretty much in the making ever since the
release of 'X-Men', and it managed to respect the Original X-Men trilogy and
the new 'First Class' movie, linking them all together. And in the end it
allowed this franchise to be able to start a fresh start with its new faces and
forget all the mistakes done in previous installments. This movie is basically
the middle point where the franchise will be able to open a new chapter in this
franchise and begin a fresh start without being constricted with the previous
bad decisions that were made and acknowledged in the previous installments.
That with all the elements inside of it made 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' the
best X-Men movie ever to be made and also be up there amongst the best
superhero movie incarnations. Being able to join this cast, which includes an
array of talent that truly define the series, is most definitely an amazing achievement.

"Hugh Jackman", "Michael Fassbender", "Evan Peters" and "James McAvoy". |
The return of 'X-Men' guru, director
"Bryan Singer"('X-Men' and 'X2') was for me one of the reasons for
the success of the movie and allowed the transitioning of the series to where
it wanted to move heading towards future movies. And in that perspective I do believe
that "Bryan Singer" provided us with his best directorial effort
ever. At the same time, he provided us with probably the most ambitious and the
best X-Men movie of the entire repertoire of this franchise. His directorial
style along with the stunning visuals effects that were included in the action
sequences allowed the audience to witness this beautiful movie. The balance
between the stories of the two worlds and actually making the character's
subplots important for the success of the movie's overall story is what made
"Simon Kinberg"('X-Men: First Class') the best possible choice for
this 7th installment of this franchise. People should know that both
"Singer" and "Kinberg" are expected to return to helm the
directing and writing of 'X-Men: Apocalypse' in July 2016 respectively.
"John Ottman"('X2' and 'Valkyrie) composed a beautiful score that further
enhanced the movie's balance of humor and drama, which made it one of the
strong elements of this film.
"Adan Canto", "Ellen page", "Shawn Ashmore" and "Daniel Cudmore". |
"Fan Bingbing" and "Booboo Stewart". |
The incorporation of time traveling in a
Hollywood movie has proven to be very difficult through the years, but its
inclusion in 'Days of Future Past' was done in a fashion and easy way. The
beginning sequence of the movie proved to be an excellent way to show the high caliber
of action that will provide throughout the entirety of the movie's perfect time
frame. It also introduced the new X-Men characters and provided us in an easy
way with the main problem of the story. After entering the 70's era, the movie
really kicks off the storytelling of the characters of that time, but that
didn't diminish the importance and scale of the action sequences. 'Quicksilver''s
time stopping sequence proved to be the best scene of the movie, franchise and
most probably one of the best scenes ever to be shot. Other favorite scenes includes
Paris convention attack, 'Professed X' of the past and future's emotionally
steering conversation, the entire Sentinel attack scenes of the future, young
'Professor X''s conversation with 'Mystique' at the airport, and of course the
entire climax action sequence. Fans will enjoy the final scene of the movie,
which will sure stir excitement in them. Also audiences should wait till after
the credits to witness the post-credit sequence that teases 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.

"James McAvoy" and "Patrick Stewart". |
This cast full of stars and talents include
the stars of the original trilogy, as well as the new stars of 'X-Men: First
Class'. And as much as everyone enjoyed the presence of the faces of 'X-Men',
the new stars of this franchise are the ones that shines brighter and we start
with them. "James McAvoy" provides a perfect embodiment of one of the
iconic franchise characters, giving this character his own unique presentation, while being
faithful to what was already done with the portrayal of the old character.
"Michael Fassbender" continues to deliver a surprising energetic
performance that fully embodies the internal conflict that 'Magneto' is having,
though his character effect is reduced compared to 'First Class'. Though same
could be said to 'Mystique', as usual "Jennifer Lawrence" gets every
ounce of its reduced character importance to deliver. And this trio stars will
surely hold this franchise and provide its fans with much optimism. "Hugh
Jackman"'s 7th portrayal of the face of this franchise 'Logan/Wolverine'
is very much restrained compared to the other movies, which actually helps this
film move forward and focus on what is really important. "Nicholas
Hoult" gives a genuine 'Beast' performance, managing to stay on par with
the trio stars. "Evan Peters" might just be the star of the movie,
surprising many of his character portrayal and being included in the best scene
of the movie.

Returning stars "Patrick Stewart",
"Ian McKellen", "Ellen Page", "Halle Barry",
"Shawn Ashmore", and "Daniel Cudmore" are a welcome return.
In spite of their limited roles this time around, they still provide more
confidence and solid performances showing the importance and influence stars of
a certain franchise can have. Audiences will know by now that the return of many
familiar faces will be amazing and no one knows which of these cameo appeared
stars could appear in future installments. Newcomers "Omar Sy", "Fan Bingbing", "Adan Canto", and "Booboo Stewart" had
very limited characters in terms of role or even dialogue. But what pleased
fans was that director and screenwriter gave these characters the chance to showcase
their character's respective abilities in a cohesive manner that didn't
interfere with the general story (especially the roles of "Fan Bingbing" and "Omar Sy"). Still, this is another 'X-Men' movie that fails to take
advantage of its evil character and provide him with a clear drive, which is a
shame seeing the large potential that "Peter Dinklage" could have
provided. A young 'William Stryker'(Josh Helman) was enjoyable, and the
different usage of a USA President in a movie was a good change, which was
portrayed by "Mark Camacho". The brief appearances of previous
'X-Men' characters like 'Havok'(Lucas Till) and other new characters was a nice
nod.
In my opinion, 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'
is the best 'X-Men' movie and one of the better superhero movie that will
surely as its previous installments affect upcoming similar genre movies.
