Official 'The Heat' Poster.
One of the most anticipated comedy movie of the year, 'The Heat' was an expected hit and  performed really well both in the box office and critics perspectives.

FBI Special Agent 'Sarah Ashburn'(Sandra Bullock) is a very skilled and effective investigator, but her fellow agents hate her due to her arrogance and condescending attitude. When 'Ashburn''s boss 'Hale'(Demián Bichir) informed her of his promotion, he told her that he will consider her as his replacement only if she shows the capability of working with others effectively. So he sends her to Boston to investigate a drug kingpin named 'Larkin'. Once there, she is partnered with skilled but foulmouthed police officer 'Shannon Mullins'(Melissa McCarthy). 'Sarah' will find it extremely difficult to work with 'Shannon' and trust her as a partner. But will she be able to do it and get the promotion she wants? Other main characters include 'Levy'(Marlon Wayans) who works with 'Sarah' and has a crush on her, DEA Agents 'Craig'(Dan Bakkedahl) and 'Adam'(Taran Killam), 'Jason Mullins'(Michael Rapaport) 'Shannon''s brother, 'Mrs. Mullins'(Jane Curtin) 'Shannon''s mother and 'Captain Woods'(Tom Wilson).

For a while now the project of making a buddy cop headlined by women was being prepared. And finally a movie has been made. 'The Heat' is really a great movie type of women buddy cop action movie, and what better way to make it than with two of the funniest actresses on the Hollywood scene. It’s really hard to believe that it took this much time to make this type of movie. I am glad that the producers of the film did not halt the production of the movie, especially since they were worried about the gender issue and whether it would be a hit or not. Guess the performance of the movie proved it as a big 2013 hit movie.

"Paul Feig", known for the hit romantic all female cast movie 'Bridesmaids', did really a good job directing this movie. And many people decided to go watch the movie due to "Feig"'s involvement. His directing style really suits the comedy movie, where he emphasizes on the characters funniness that brings up the level of the movie. The script was written by "Katie Dippold", known for writing many episodes for 'Parks and Recreation', did an ok job with the story, but could have done much better. Still it wasn’t a bad job seeing that it was her first big movie writing gig. Composer "Michael Andrews"('Bad Teacher' and 'She’s out of My League') did an acceptable job helping the movie elevate its quality.

The story of 'The Heat' was predictable and could have used a little more touch of the unexpected factor. However, we can all agree that what held the movie and attracted many were the lead actresses, which I will talk about in a second. What I basically loved about the movie is that they gave the audiences time to understand the characters more and get even more attached to them. My favorite scenes were all the scenes that had "Sandra Bullock" and "Melissa McCarthy" together. Specifically, the best scene of the movie was that of 'Sarah' and 'Shannon' drinking in the bar, it was just hilarious. The little twist on the identity of the villain was good and a bit unexpected. And the ending was unbelievably funny.

The stars of the movie were its lead actresses: "Sandra Bullock" and "Melissa McCarthy". Without them the movie probably would have flopped and wouldn’t have gotten the buzz and excitement it got. "Sandra Bullock" is one of my favorite actresses of all time, and her flexibility in playing both dramatic and comedic roles is very impressive. She has previously confessed that her forte is doing comedy, and it shows. Her comedic timing and genuine humor attracts the audiences. And that was proven during her amazing performance in both 'Miss Congeniality' movies and 'The Proposal'. Same could be said to "Melissa McCarthy" who is really funny and I thought that her portrayal of 'Shannon' was one of her best character portrayals she has ever done. That said, I really think that we have yet to see her career defining role. What is more amazing is the great chemistry between them which was undeniably amazing to watch. The remaining cast did a good job supporting these to great actresses.

'The Heat' is an enjoyable comedy movie. It may not be the best comedy movie ever; however, the presence of both "Sandra Bullock" and "Melissa McCarthy" is worth watching it.
