Review: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax

Review: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
*Spoilers Alert
Do NOT forget to rate this post when you finish.

"Dr. Seuss's The Lorax".
An animated comedy musical movie, all these combinations adding that its main topic talk about an environment may not appeal at first glance. However, Dr. Seuss's The Lorax with its different elements will actually entertain you.

"Danny Devito".
"Ed Helms".
The movie takes place at 'Thneed-ville', where everything in this town is made out of plastic, and where there are no real trees but plastic and mechanical ones. 'Ted'(Zac Efron) likes an older girl called 'Audrey'(Taylor Swift), who wants nothing but to see a real life 'Trufula' tree. So after taking the advice of his Grandma 'Norma'(Betty White), and wanting nothing more than to impress 'Audrey', he decides to go track and meet the 'Ouce-ler'(Ed Helms), a mysterious figure, who is presumably the last person to know what happened to the tree. And from there, a great story commences about how the 'Ounce-ler' once lived in a valley full of 'Trufula' trees and how he once met 'The Lorax'(Danny DeVito), the guardian spirit of the forest.
"Betty White", "Taylor Swift",
and "Zac Efron".
"Rob Riggle".
'Dr. Seuss's The Lorax' is actually only the second real adaptation of the book since the 1972 animated musical TV special 'The Lorax'. It takes on the same story as the book, however it expand the story part related to 'Ted'. If you read the reaction of many critics, any argue about the environmental-political and social- message depicted in this movie. For me even though at times the 'Hollywood production' aspect takes away at times from the story, the overall message which the movie tries to give away to the audience, especially young kids, is done in a good and fun way. Yes it may have been put in a clearer way, but I don’t mind the path the producers and director took.
"Danny DeVito" and "Ed Helms".
"Zac Efron".
One of the good things the marketing group of this movie did is not showing and emphasizing that it is a musical movie. And that is cleaver since seeing that "Taylor Swift" and "Zac Efron" were part of it, the audience may have gotten the wrong message. The director "Chris Renaud"('Despicable Me' and 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs') and his co-director "Kyle Balda" did a very good job. The special effects team did an amazing job. The vibrant colors and great animated imagery really elevates this movie to another level. And this really helps the audience enjoy the movie. The writers did an ok job making some changes within the script, like the human 'Ounce-ler' and revealing his face which does not occur in the story. And considering the work they have done to transform a 20-30 page book into a full animated film, they did a decent job. And composer "John Powell"('Shrek' and 'Kung-Fu Panda') creates a great scores for the movie, however the original songs doesn’t stay reminiscent in the audience's heads.
"Danny DeVito".
"Taylor Swift".
The opening musical number was a good way to introduce us to what is happening. I liked the pace of the movie as well as how the director was able to merge and move simultaneously with both stories. I personally prefer the story between the 'Ounce-ler' and 'The Lorax', just because those scenes were more fun to watch. Even though many know what eventually might happen in the story, still due to the great character interactions, you cannot but enjoy the splendidly animated scenes. Most of the musical numbers were not memorable. Many criticized the movie for including just some lines from the book, but that was something that I didn't mind. And the ending was really good and liked how they incorporated one of the most important quotes of Dr. Seuss in the end.
"Betty White", "Jenny Slate",
and "Zac Efron".
"Ed Helms".
Let me start by saying, in regards to the cast, that all of them did a pretty good job and they fitted their characters in a very surprising but entertaining way. "Zac Efron" was good seeing that he voiced a 12 year old boy. This doesn’t show very much and is actually a good thing. "Taylor Swift" surprisingly did a very good job and her voice fitted her character 'Audrey'. The character of "Rob Riggle" looked very much like the actor himself that is why I thought his voice fitted perfectly the character. "Ed Helms" also voices wonderfully the 'Ounce-ler' and was able to give the character some really good emotions. "Danny DeVito" was just perfect as 'The Lorax', which was my favorite character of the movie. I couldn't imagine anyone else voicing the character. "Betty White" is as usual great and her addition was a good one. And the other actors do a good job supporting the main cast.

If you like to watch a visually great animation movie with a solid but not creative story and some musical numbers, 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax' is the movie to watch.
