An engagingly rich narrative story, 'Gone Girl' manages to deeply enter into the psychology and reaction of society and media of a social problem.

After his return to his home in Missouri, 'Nick Dunne'(Ben Affleck) realizes that his wife 'Amy Elliot-Dunne'(Rosamund Pike) is missing under very suspicious events. Being an inspiration for her parent's popular children book 'Amazing Amy', 'Amy' is no a stranger to being under the spotlight and having a huge amount of fans. This ultimately puts a huge mark on the back of 'Nick' and his sister 'Margo Dunn'(Carrie Coon), and directly becomes the starting conversation and scrutiny of the entire people of the society and ultimately the media. With more elements coming out to the open that are hurting him, 'Nick' decides to hire famous legal attorney 'Tanner Bolt'(Tyler Perry) to manage the huge attack that he is getting and the allegations that many are putting forth that he has something to do. Revelations will be brought forward and the story will endure twists and turn that are unexpected to say the least, whilst detective "Rhonda Boney"(Kim Dickens) is handling the case. Other major characters include 'Amy''s ex-boyfriend 'Desi Collings'(Neil Patrick Harris), Officer 'James Gilpin'(Patrick Fugit), 'Nick' and 'Amy''s neighbor 'Noel Hawthorne'(Casey Wilson), cable TV host 'Ellen Abbot'(Missi Pyle), 'Nick''s mistress 'Andie Fitzgerald'(Emily Ratajkowski), 'Amy''s father 'Rand Elliot'(David Clennon), 'Amy''s mother 'Marybeth Elliot'(Lisa Banes) and network TV host 'Sharon Shieber'(Sela Ward).

The movie is adapted from the same named bestselling novel, which is written by acclaimed writer "Gillian Flynn". "Gillian" has two other books that have been used in TV and film adaptation, but many consider that this one is the most high profile book that she has ever written and the reason is acknowledgeable. The story is based on a big mystery that is wrapped around the looking of effects of marital problems, that is accompanied with emotional and economical problems. But what is more interesting is the way media was included within the movie, it cleverly showed the different opinions that people of society are quick to create while only the surface of a certain event was scratched. What further made the movie a success is the entire group of people that were included in the making of 'Gone Girl', from the brilliant director, cinematographer and editor to the cast that provided brilliant award-worthy performances.

"Ben Affleck" and "Rosamund Pike".
"Carrie Coon".
"David Fincher" is renowned for movies like 'The Fight Club', 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' and 'The Social Network'. What is common between these movies and other ones that he has directed is that all of them are novels, books or short stories that have been adapted. With that, "David" was the best man for the job being able to take what is most important and captivating from the book and highlight it. Work on cinematography and editing must be recognized for their amazing work that added volumes to the high quality. Fortunately "Gillian Flynn" was hired to adapt the screenplay and this was one of the most intelligent decisions made, since it allowed her to preserve authenticity and bring forward the best of the novel. Her work has already garnered her many awards and an Oscar nomination (and probably a win is a prospect). Composers "Trent Reznor" and "Atticus Ross", who both worked before on "David"'s movies such as 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' brought an incredible score that enhanced the thrill feeling of the film.

"Patrick Fugit" and "Kim Dickens".
"Rosamund Pike".
What was exciting about this movie is how it made the audiences stay on their edge of their seats the entire two hours, where the last 30 minutes were still thrilling yet it was at the closing stage. The way the director and writer chose the moments to expose more and more of what is going on in a very meticulous and delicate manner showed their knowledge and passion to bring forward the best possible movies. This unconventional manner to update audiences on what is going on and revealing what is the truth behind the movie is what made this movie interesting and wanting to know what is actually going to happen. Also as previously mentioned the tackling of issues about marriage in a murder/kidnapping setting, which at the same time brought forward the reaction of society and media allowed the development of the characters in a very revealing way without undermining this aspect. All scenes that lead up to the revelation were the one that were full of arouse, that the director and writer were aiming to stimulate the audiences with. The ending of the story is very much expressive and intriguing seeing different takes and morals could be taken from it.
"Ben Affleck", Patrick Fugit", "David
Clennon", "Lisa Banes" and
"Kim Dickens".
"Rosamund Pike" and "Ben Affleck".
"Ben Affleck" surely was the star of the entire movie, giving us one of his best and most memorable performances of his entire career. The way his performances kept us in the dark and made audience question his sincerity till the end made him a more relatable character. Though due to politics in Hollywood, surely his performance will be ignored at the award season (such as the snub at the Golden Globes nomination list). "Rosamund Pike" gives the performance of her career and what many describe as a breakthrough one. Her presences in films has been for many years, but surely the way she brought complexity and sincerity to her character with subtle manipulation feel, will make this role the role that everyone will remember her for(proven by the various nominations and wins she has already garnered). The way both "Ben" and "Affleck" were able to develop separately and jointly their characters in this very clear and real manner showed the genuine chemistry between them. Praise also should be given to the supporting cast who provide great performances and managing to further lift the quality of acting. Known actors like "Tyler Perry", "Neil Patrick Harris", and "Missi Pyle" were given freedom to prosper, while other actors like "Carrie Coon", "Kim Dickens", "Patrick Fugit" and "Casey Wilson: were given their respective opportunities to shine.

'Gone Girl' is one of the most captivation character-driven stories in recent memory that is beautifully packaged in a thriller-mystery setting and will be a force to reckon with at the award season.
