Official 'We're The Millers' Poster.
One of the surprises hit and entertaining movies of 2013, 'We're The Millers' might just be the best comedy family movie of 2013.
"Jason Sudeikis".
"Jennifer Aniston".
When low level marijuana drug dealer 'David Clark'(Jason Sudeikis) gets robbed, his wealthy drug lord 'Brad Grudlinger'(Ed Helms) forces 'David' to smuggle marijuana from Mexico to settle his debt. Realizing that by himself he won't be able to pull this off. So he convinces easily 'Kenny Rossmore'(Will Poulter) his neighbor to play his son, not so easily 'Casey Mathis'(Emma Roberts) 21 year old runaway to play his daughter, and very hardly 'Rose O'Reilly'(Jennifer Aniston) his neighbor who he has a crush on and works as a stripper to pose as his wife. And forming 'The Millers' they head towards their journey to achieve their mission. Will they succeed and more importantly will they get along together? Other characters include DEA agent 'Don Fitzgerald'(Nick Offerman) who befriends 'David', his wife 'Edie Fitzgerald'(Kathryn Hahn), and their daughter 'Melissa Fitzgerald'(Molly Quinn).

Being an R-rated movie, 'We're The Millers' does take comedy and uncomfortable situations over the line. So it is definitely not a movie for families to watch with their smaller kids. Not all audiences will accept the discomfort that the film gives from expanding the humor scope. But seeing how many went to see the movie and the box office success that it accompanied, we can safely assume that the movie was a success. Especially since the movie is the highest grossing R-rated comedy movie of 2013. The movie's heartwarming cross country-tale quickly turns into series of 'familial' awkwardness. And though this movie includes some of the most shockingly hilarious beats in recent memory, this does not remove the fact that the overall story does have few problems that could have been easily solved.

The director of this movie "Rawson Marshall Thurber" is best known for directing the surprise comedy movie of 2010 'Easy A'. His directing style very much suited this genre of movie, and his attempt to show this type of over-the-top comedy but at the same time bringing the audiences close to the characters was a successful one. "Bob Fisher" and "Steve Faber", known for their work on 'Wedding Crashers' did a very good job with the story, setting up the core premise and a valid reason along with few surprises along the way. And the depth of the story for sticking together through hardship was a great aspect. However, the problem with the movie is even if there are over the top and memorable comedy, it is accompanied with some less funny and sometimes cliché ones, which hurt the movie a bit. Composers "Ludwig Göransson"('Frutivale Station) and "Theodore Shapiro"('Did You Hear About the Morgans?') did a fitting score to accompany the movie.

In terms of pace, I thought they did a very good job. And the time of frame was enough not to make the audience bored. The way the writers in the first 20-30 minutes were able to father the main characters and quickly join them for a common 'cause' was really good. Plus the way they briefly but sufficiently showed what each character is was also very clever. Also I loved that the main plot point of smuggling drugs from Mexico to the United States was maintained and never lost its ground throughout the movie. From there on, some of my favorite scenes included "Jennifer Aniston" stripping, the foursome scenes between the Millers and Fitzgerald, the kissing teaching séance, and of course the spider bite scene. And for those who remained for the blooper scenes in the end, loved the 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S' surprise in the end.

The four main actors in the movie had a genuine physical and emotional chemistry that was pleasurable to watch. "Jason Sudeikis" has been having a great roll in his comedic role. This role may not be his best, but his consistent performance throughout the movie was fun to watch and helped the remaining cast. "Jennifer Aniston" must be given a lot of credit since most of her characters carried the most over-the-top scenes. And she used very efficiently her solid character to bring emotions between the four characters. "Emma Roberts"'s character didn't that much to do as the rest but when time came, she performed. The surprise of the movie was "Will Poulter", who was the most appealing between the four towards the characters. And he had the best character development. The remaining characters also shined when they were put on the spot. "Nick Offerman" and "Kathryn Hahn" were one of those who delivered genuine performances, "Ed Helms" didn't offer that much, while "Molly Quinn" did what she was supposed to deliver.
'We're The Millers' in my opinion was the best comedy movie of the year. It may not be the brightest comedy ever, but with a solid cast and humorous scenes the movie delivers.
