One of the many attempts to launch the new 'Twilight' and 'Hunger Games' franchise, 'Beautiful Creatures' had potential to do it, but ultimately failed.
"Alice Englert".
"Alden Ehrenreich".
In Gatlin South Carolina, at the first day of junior year, 'Ethan Wate'(Alden Ehrenreich) meets newcomer 'Lena Duchannes'(Alice Englert), who resembles a girl he dreams about and a very mysterious and withdrawn girl. Eventually after spending a lot of time together, 'Lena' reveals to 'Ethan' that she is a caster, a magical being, and that on her 16th birthday she will be claimed as a force of light or darkness. Here a love journey will begin, where 'Ethan' will try to help 'Lena' not to get consumed by the dark force. We have also 'Macon Ravenwood'(Jeremy Irons) 'Lena''s uncle who is trying to help her get to the good side, 'Mavis Lincoln/Sarafine'(Emma Thompson) 'Lena''s mother who was consumed by the dark side and took over 'Ethan' friend's mother, 'Ridley Duchannes'(Emmy Rossum) 'Lena''s provocative cousin, 'Amma'(Viola Davis) the town librarian and 'Ethan''s friend, 'Wesley Jefferson Lincoln/Link'(Thomas Mann), 'Emmaline Duchannes'(Eileen Atkins), 'Emily Asher'(Zoey Deutch), and 'Aunt Del'(Margo Martindale).
"Emma Thompson".
"Jeremy Irons" and "Viola Davis".
Many critics and fans of the book 'Beautiful Creatures' were expecting high things regarding this movie. This movie was the first part of a four installment book the 'Caster Chronicles'. The studio was expecting to take advantage of the supernatural elements of the book to try and push it to become the next big franchise. Unfortunately the movie was huge disappointment. And unfortunately I have to agree with the critics. When I watched it I kept an open mind and tried not to think about the negatives. However the movie, when compared to similar genres was full of mistakes. It had major flaws regarding the overall story, the development of the story, the character development, and pacing issues. But that does not remove the fact that the movie was impressively good in terms of visual effects and the overall picture depicted, which what attracted many.
"Emmy Rossum".
"Thomas Mann".
Director "Richard LaGravensee" known for his work in 'P.S, I Love You', 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader' and 'Water for Elephants’ did a mediocre job regarding this movie. And compared to his other works, this movie seems a bit of a disappointment. He was successfully to showcase the pretty visuals effects and the sorcery actions. However, he was not able to link the whole movie successfully and show the characters development successfully. But that problem lies too on the writer who was also "LaGravensee" who did little development to the characters; even the main characters didn't have that much of an interesting story. "Thenewno2" the alternative rock band was responsible for scoring the movie, yet it wasn't able to save the movie.
"Alden Ehrenreich" and
"Viola Davis".
"Eileen Atkins", "Alice Englert"
and "Jeremy Irons".
From the time the movie opens and until it ends you feel that the story moves at an awkward pace and in an unknown direction. Whenever the movie tries to open a new element in the story and starts to develop it, you suddenly feel that the scene and story is stopped. Moreover, the writers had many of things such as the back-story of 'Ridley' and the relationship between 'Sarafina' and 'Macon', all of them among others who were not used in any good manner. And the movement from one scene to another wasn't smooth and flowing in the way that it should have. If I have to choose my favorite scenes, I would choose the scene where 'Lena' and 'Ethan' are sitting at the beginning of the movie talking and the scene where 'Lena' and 'Ridley' are confronting each other during the dinner scene. The ending was good due to certain elements that are not predictable.
"Alden Ehrenreich" and  "Alice Englert".
"Alden Ehrenreich" and  "Alice Englert".
The two main actors and lovers of the story were not so bad and actually managed to somehow salvage the movie. "Alice Englert" in my opinion managed to keep her performance good for the most parts. At time it fell flat and like she was trying too hard. But for the majority of the movie she did a good job. And the star of the movie was in my opinion "Alden Ehrenreich". He surprised me very much, and was able to develop his character and make him the only character that is interesting. The chemistry between the two actors was good, yet it wasn't able to be fully shown due to the lack of compelling ideas backing this relationship. Actors "Emma Thompson" and "Jeremy Irons" played characters that could have been explored more. The writer should have taken advantage of having such talented actors. The same can be said to actresses "Emmy Rossum", whose character suddenly disappeared in the middle of the movie and then reappeared, and "Viola Davis" who played a poorly developed character. The other supporting cast,  such as "Thomas Mann", "Eileen Atkins", "Zoey Deutch", and "Margo Martindale", should have been used more effectively.

In the end when you watch the trailer, the nice visual effects will deceive you since in the end 'Beautiful Creatures' does not deliver, though it had the potential to do so.
