Official 'The Wolf of Wall Street' Poster.
One of the most outrageous and over the top movies of 2013, if not in movie history, 'The Wolf of Wall Street' can be easily described in three words: bold, outrageous, and successful.

"Leonardo DiCaprio".
"Jonah Hill".
Taking place between the late 1980s and early 1990s in New York City, young 'Jordan Belfort'(Leonardo DiCaprio) has been dedicating his life working relentlessly to achieve the American Dream (making it big and becoming filthy rich in the financial services). But when 'Jordan''s debut on Wall Street crumbles, he is able to find a work at a small penny-stock firm. Soon enough 'Jordan' successfully utilizes his skills of deception to makes tons of money and move on to a bigger vision: setting up his own trading firm with his buddies such as 'Donnie Azoff'(Jonah Hill) and earning millions. However, when seeking of wealth, pleasure and women goes too extreme, 'Jordan' will suddenly feel everything slipping away and his life changing and crumbling, especially when FBI agent 'Patrick Denham'(Kyle Chandler) becomes hot on his tail. Other main characters include 'Naomi Lapaglia'(Margot Robbie), 'Jordan''s first wife 'Teresa Petrillo'(Christin Milioti), 'Jordan''s first boss 'Mark Hanna'(Mathew McConaughey), a courier 'Brad Bodnick'(Jon Bernthal), 'Jordan''s father 'Max Belfort'(Rob Reiner), corrupt banker 'Jean-Jacques Saurel'(Jean Dujardin) and 'Naomi''s aunt 'Emma'(Joanna Lumley).

"Margot Robbie".
"Jon Bernthal".
It is important for you to know first that this R-Rated movie is loosely based on the real life memoir of a man named "Jordan Belfort", where many real life characters names and minor changes in the story were made. For those who aren't aware this is the fifth collaboration between "Martin Scorsese" and "Leonardo DiCaprio" after 'Gangs of New York', 'The Aviator', 'The Departed', and 'Shutter Island'. At first glimpse at the trailers, many thought of it being a dark comedy filled with grime. Still like the previous movies, both "Scorsese" and "DiCaprio" acheive another cinematic, narrative, and acting masterpiece. Even with all the craziness and outrageousness of the whole movie premise, the director and actor manages to show us the craziness of the American culture and that time period(and even nowadays), by maintaining the necessary emotional and character development in the various themes depicted throughout the entirety of the movie.

"Mathew McConaughey".
"Kyle Chandler".
This movie needed a director that was able to merge the raunchy story telling and dialogue with the sincerity, emotional yet controversial story. And who better to achieve it other than the brilliant "Martin Scorsese", who performed a similar task in the widely acclaimed 1990 movie 'Godfellas'. Writer "Terence Winter" is most known for his work on TV series 'The Sopranos' and 'Boardwalk Empire', where both series that require the ability to perform such tasks. The eccentric and foul-mouthed screenplay was so crazy but managed to remain funny yet moving at the same time, showing in an embedded way the philosophy of America's culture of greed. Moreover, the usage of narrative voice overs to show the story from the perspective and language of 'Belfort' was an effective tool to be used. Composers "Robbie Robertson"('Shutter Island') and "Howard Shore"('The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug') provide a solid score, with the movie employing popular songs of that era such as "Billy Joel"'s 'Movin' Out'.

'Wolf of Wall Street' is an extremely long movie. The running time extends to 179 minutes, which is approximately 3 hours and 19 minutes. For many this could be very problematic, but for those who enjoys these kinds of movies the time will pass by eventually since the movie does provide many enjoyable moments. The middle part is the most exciting part of the movie since the audience kind of settle in the life that 'Jordan' has built for himself and the environment of the company. The first half compromises of showing us how everything came to be, while the third half provides us the implications of what happened during the middle part. The most favorite sequences of the movie are 'Jordan' and 'Mark Hanna''s lunch, the pool party where 'Jordan' meets 'Naomi', the eccentric parties at the workplace, and the most wild one 'Jordan' and 'Donnie' getting high on the plane. Trivia news, the movie broke the record for the number of times the word 'Fuck' was used in a Feature Film. The word is used 506 times, whilst the previous record of 453 times was for "Spike Lee"'s 1999 film 'Summer of Sam'.

"Mathew McConaughey".
"Leonardo DiCaprio".
Another excellent factor that helped the movie was its exceptional ensemble led by one of the most prominent actors of our generation. Interesting thing is that "Leonardo DiCaprio" went to great lengths to play the role and was following the movie's pre-production process for years. Hiis balanced and charismatic performance surely deserves an Oscar Nomination as well as a Golden Globe win for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. The second star of the movie was "Jonah Hill", who also accepted a minimal $60,000 pay for this role (much less than "DiCaprio" $ 10 million paycheck) in order to play 'Donnie Azoff', where he further proved his ability to function in all types of comedies. Both "Hill" and "DiCaprio" maintained their high performance needed at all times. "Margot Robbie" and "Jon Bernthal" provided breakthrough performances, while "Mathew McConaughey" yielded a memorable comedic and impactful cameo appearance. "Kyle Chandler" proves reliable as a supporting actor, same goes for both "Christin Milioti" and "Rob Reiner". Appearances from "Jean Dujardin" and "Joanna Lumley" was admired.

In the end, 'Wolf of Wall Street' was able to deliver and proved to be a major contender in the award season winning the Golden Globe for Best Picture-Musical and Comedy and being nominated for various main categories at the Oscars.
